Luisa Ventisei is a Manchester based illustrator whose work is heavily influenced by the natural world, her personal journey with spirituality, wellbeing and refrences to her own memories. While her work is often illustrative, Luisa also has an affinity for fine art practices and aims to marry both these disciplines together in her work. She achieves this by working with a range of mediums but primarily paints such as gouache, watercolour and oils, and through sculptural mediums such as ceramic. Luisa uses printmaking processes in her work such as risograph and cyanotype to take some control away from the piece and achieve unique and organic outcomes. She makes work that aims to be truthful by making work that is intuitive and is a reflection of her emotions at the time. Subject matters such as animals, portraits and natural forms come into play a lot throughout her work as a way of exploring themes such as girlhood, childhood innocence, feelings of vurnerability and ‘otherness’ and a connection to nature.
